This is an awesome place. I've been to breweries from Breckenridge to Ashville to Key West and this place is something... special. The beer was great, moonshine fantastic, even the bourbon was good. They had awesome top notch live music. I can not say enough about our experience. I posted pics so you can see how cute and quaint this place is. I love being able to pour my own beer. 5 stars for vibe and live music and ease of self pour beer. 2 stars as beer was Meh. Thought it was the tap line but... no, just no good beer. Paid a lot of money for tiny little tastes of all of the taps. Only the blood orange was drinkable. Bourbon was really good and bought a bottle. Staff very nice. Disappointed when showed up on a Thursday night and it was closed. Came back Friday night and it was open. One star for the FOUR PERCENT FEE added to every check in addition to tax. I’m not a local so won’t be back.read more

Unique brewery and distillery. It's self serve in the main area. You start a tab and are given a card to activate the... taps. You pay by the ounce, not by glass. They have local brews as well as guest taps. They have beer, wine, seltzer and mixed drinks. They also sell carry out moonshine. Unfortunately, they have an extremely limited food menu. They only had a pulled pork sandwich, and they were out by late afternoon when I got there.read more

Lance and I visited for our anniversary. We had lots of the delicious craft beer and enjoyed a romantic carriage ride... through historic downtown Madison. The cozy atmosphere made us feel warm and welcome. We can’t wait to return again next year as we will be celebrating 3 year’s together. A lust that began at the beach has bloomed into the love that we share now.read more

Came here from out of town as I heard great things about their pizza & beer.I'll say the beer was fantastic but they... didn't have any pizza. They only had a generic BBQ sandwich which wasn't terrible but wasn't great either & I was still hungry after.Maybe I just had too high of expectations since I had heard the food was so good?Either way, with the beer being as good as it is, hopefully they can get some better food to go along with it.read more

So much fun. Great place. They make it clear the establishment isn't built for kids but we still brought our 3 and 6... year old and sat outside no problem. Just kept them entertained so they weren't running around. The outside seating area is really nice, the inside is huge and unique. Was very sad to hear the uncommon pizza is going away as it was quite delicious.read more

I sang with Joe Perkinson Friday at the Mad Paddle and had a blast! I loved the place, the beer was awesome, and thanks... to all you that came out to hear us! Jerry Wade is a awesome guy, and is doing a great job promoting the awesome musicians we have in Madison, and elsewhere! If you want to have a great time, go to the Mad Paddle! Very nice place! Husband had a couple beers to wash down the hot pizza he ordered. I had a Pepsi and a big mac pizza.... Must be no water or iced tea. Just a hint for diabetics. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly.They let us come in with our terrior dog and she loved everyoneread more

Historic building and cool venue for craft brewing. Ales, IPAs and fruited beers. We had a cream ale, blueberry ale,... stout, APA and IPA. Nothing too complex but they do these beers real well, crisp and clean with great flavor. Good pizza menu as well. Live music on certain nights. Mad paddle has quickly become the ultimate place to be in Madison. We’ve been a handful of times to enjoy some of the... delicious beer and enjoy live music. Last night my wife and friends surprised me with a little birthday party and rented out the back room for us. I HIGHLY recommend looking in to checking this out for your party’s or get togethers. The back room area is huge, plenty of tables, a couple of couches and a tv, bathrooms right there. I wish I’d taken pictures but we were so caught up in just having a great time. The staff is incredible. They popped in from time to time and made sure we had everything we needed. We probably wound up ordering 4 different pizzas through the night and they were all among some of the best pizzas any of us have ever had. The beer was plentiful and they staff made sure we weren’t thirsty at any point. This was the most fun I’ve had in a VERY long time. Mad paddle is such an incredible addition to Madison and I’m looking forward to spending many more amazing nights here!read more

Stood in line for several minutes, and watched two other people get waited on before us. One couple actually came in... after us and got waited on before us. Another was sitting at bar already drinking and was waited on before us. We were there waiting for a drink way before these two parties. Poor directional and flow of order point. You don't know where to go to order. BUT, server should have known we were there first. Guy with couple even stood wayback, and let him get waited on before us. Very disappointed. Great place to come and enjoy a cold craft beer or your old time favorite with friends or family. Bring your own food... or order in. They don't mind. I thought Indianapolis was the land of craft beer but I was wrong. After a random trip to Madison for the weekend, we... decided to check out some local places. My host for the weekend suggested here and I’m glad she did!Located in historic Madison on a corner you’ll find mad paddle brewery, they had a food truck on the outside which I always love then brewery’s have that as an option.The inside is simply decorated and clean, you can sit at the bar or different tables as options.The bar tenders are very friendly! I enjoyed the conversations I had with each and the recommendations that they gave.I tried all the in house beers and each were delicious! I love that they had what I consider short pours so you can enjoy all of the flavor but not get tanked.Mad paddle also has a ton of games! Planned a special Birthday get away for my husbands birthday. He loves breweries and I wanted a new place for him to... try. The reviews are promising and the atmosphere is great. However, our 1 year old daughter accompanied us. Apparently this is where we went wrong. We are from out of state and have made a hobby of visiting dozens of breweries and having a baby has never been a problem prior. I stepped away to the bathroom, thankfully, and my husband went to the bar to order his IPA. They poured his drink and immediately a female bartender told him he couldn’t be in here with our daughter. Not an apologetic, friendly, sorry no babies or no children just a flat out you can’t be in here. If I had been at the bar with him I would have slid the beer right back and left then, he knew better than to tell me of the incident. The other bartenders laughed it off and said, “No man, you’re fine.” So he didn’t think much of it but he noticed the other bartender immediately dash off to the back. About 10 minutes later we were approached by her and told he could finish his beer but then we needed to leave. Now, if this is the law in Indiana, I understand, or if there is another beer license they need to apply for then whatever, but to me in the world of small business, how you treat the customer says everything. We immediately left the brewery, sadly the only one in the area and headed back to KY. Unfortunately, this one incident ruined it for us. I thought I had planned a nice afternoon for my husband but this one individual ruined it for him. His English IPA wasn’t great but he did get to try another Mad Paddle IPA in town at another business with a much friendlier bartender and did enjoy. However, we won’t be making the trip back.read more
