- Mad Paddle is located within two blocks of the regatta event. We offer a self pour beer wall with 25+ taps to choose from, a wide range of foods, and house brewed moonshines and bourbons! 🥃

During the mid to late 1800’s Madison, IN like many other places in the US experienced an economic boom which was also known as the Industrial Revolution. Madison being located on the waterfront had vast access to the newest technologies of the time because of the easy access transportation that the river allowed from one city to another. Many of the now historic buildings were put up during this time with Mad Paddle Brewstillery being one of the more capitalized businesses to be built on the riverfront side of town. Originally built as a grain mill during the Industrial Revolution, the grain mill boomed actively from the late 1800’s to 1900’s when it was finally shut down permanently.

Fast forward to 2017, the city of Madison began revamping the city with a $21million dollar grant that would bring the historic buildings back to life. The Wade brothers had a grand idea that they would transform the historic feed mill building into a newly restored brewery embarking the 100th anniversary of brewing beer in Madison, IN. The name “Mad Paddle” is coined from the original grain paddles that still exist in the back half of the 12,000 square foot building and the town’s name, Madison.

In the Fall of 2024, Mad Paddle Brewstillery took new ownership once again by the Cooper family. It now offers a wide range of beers, liquors, and food options! As a family owned and oriented business, we’ve grown very close to a lot of our customers and we encourage them to bring their families as well. One of our favorite things is when people come in and tell us stories about their childhood at the grain mill with their families decades before. The Cooper’s have now owned and operated the historic grain mill known as Mad Paddle Brewstillery for the last eight months. There is always something new being offered, fun events, and good spirits! We hope to see you at the paddle! 🍻
